2018 Adventure Bucket List

Let’s go on an adventure!

It should come as no surprise that I’m already daydreaming of where 2018 will take me. I took two trips in 2017 so part of me feels like I need to make up for lost time! In the downtime I’ve had from not travelling much last year, I’ve come up with some fun ideas to do over short weekends, to help make up for adventures I missed last year.

Go Glamping

For those who don’t know “glamping” is luxury camping (glam + camping = glamping). Instead of pitching your own tent, you’d book a glamp-site, whether it’s an upgrading airstream in Santa Barbara, or a yurt out in the desert, gamping provides a more comfortable, luxury feel to camping… Like baths!

Go Skydiving

This has been on my bucket list for like, EVER. There’s not a skydiving company where I live in Oceanside, CA so there really isn’t any excuse anymore! Maybe I’ll make it happen in 2018.

Visit a New Country

Using my passport once a year is a resolution I’ve kept for 3 years, and I’ve already got flights booked for Spain and Hungary in the spring, so I know I’ll be able to check this one off!

See The Northern Lights

Iceland is on my list of places to go to, and it’s relatively cheap to travel there (from the east coast). But Alaska is another option. From everything that I have read, the best way to see the northern lights is in the winter, and the best places are closer to the arctic, making it even more cold! Brrr…

Road Trip!

I’ve been wanting to take a Route 66 trip through Arizona and New Mexico. It’s an old highway, parts of it will take you off the beaten path, and don’t get me started on the quirky road-side attractions! The question is, do I splurge on a rental or risk my own car with over 220,000 miles on it!? (I love my Honda).

Take a Trip by Train
amtrak

A couple years ago, a friend pointed me to an article of a guy who had taken an Amtrak from California to Chicago. The pictures were amazing! Especially through the mid-west where the train starts to depart from highways and civilization!

Staycation at The Madonna Inn

Each room at the Madonna Inn in Santa Barbara is different, unique and quirky. I don’t have any intention of staying in each one, but there are a couple rooms that I would love to experience! Specifically, one with photogenic wallpaper and a balcony.

Of course, these are not to mention all the different countries I want to visit. I’d like to take a second international trip after Spain/Hungary but I haven’t decided on a location yet; there’s so many options! It might be cool to spend a holiday in another country!
